'Bartimaeus : The Amulet of Samarkand'

  Jonathan Stroud created an amazing world of fantasy, magic, and adventure in his Bartimaeus trilogy. The story revolves around a creature from another dimension, a djinni named Bartimaeus who has lived for thousands of years. The plot is narrated by two voices, Bartimaeus and an omnipotent perspective. It begins with an orphan boy with great potential being trained by a mediocre magician. The story follows the boy's ambition and his desire for revenge as he thwarts the villain's evil plans to take over the city and the magical world.   Stroud's wit and remarkable character development, particularly of Bartimaeus, add depth to the story.
